DIRECTIONS TO THE POULTON RESEARCH PROJECT

By Car

If driving on the A55, exit at Junction 38 onto the A483 ‘Wrexham Road’, heading towards Wrexham. After a couple of hundred meters you will approach a roundabout. Take the first left onto the B5445 ‘Old Wrexham Road’. Follow this road for about a third of a mile. Just after you pass the Grosvenor Garden Centre on your left you will see a sign for a left hand turn marked ‘Poulton’. Take this turn and it will bring you onto the ‘Straight Mile’. This turning is easy to miss so if you encounter a sign for ‘Cuckoo’s Nest’ you have gone too far.
Once on the ‘Straight Mile’, follow the road to the end where you will encounter a small crossroads. Go straight over and the road immediately bends to the right. At this point you will enter a wooded area. After about 30 meters you will see an electric gate on your left with an intercom system. Press the button and inform the security that you are there for ‘The Poulton Research Project’. Drive through the gates and after about a half mile you will drive over an old concrete runway ( WW 2 ) and then you will enter an avenue of trees. After approx. 100yds take a right turn just before the ‘Black and White’ cottages. If you pass them you have gone too far. You should find yourself on an old concrete taxiway for the runway. Drive down the taxiway until you reach the Poulton portable cabins.

If you type the postcode CH4-9EQ into your sat-nav, it will take you to the ‘Straight Mile’, then follow the directions from there.

By Train and Bus

The Nearest train station is at Chester. You can catch the No. 1 bus for Wrexham from here. Ask the driver for a fair to the stop after the ‘Grosvenor Garden Centre’. This is right next to the beginning of the ‘Straight Mile’. You can call Kevin from here on 07732701463 who can come and pick you up.
